Children’s
Ministries Policies
Well Child
Sick children belong at home to recuperate and to
prevent the spread of germs. We ask that you not bring a
child to church who has been running a fever in the past
24 hours or who has a mucus discharge, diarrhea,
vomiting or other contagious symptoms. Children
exhibiting any of these symptoms will be taken to their
parents.
Safety
Our Reducing the Risk program is in place to provide a
safe sanctuary for the children of our church. All
volunteers working directly with children have applied
for the position and have been screened and trained in
Reducing the Risk policies and procedures, and are
periodically recertified.
We have two adults in all activities for children in
nursery through second grade. In third grade and up we
make every effort to have two teachers per classroom
however, when only one adult is available the door to
the classroom is left open.
Parents (or a designated adult) must pick up and sign
out their children second grade and younger from all
classes and activities. Parents may sign a waiver for
children third grade and up allowing them to leave class
on their own to meet parents at a designated spot.
With few exceptions, our family events and extra
activities for children are family activities, with one
or both parents or guardian required to attend with the
child. Childcare is provided for certain activities and
parents are expected to be in activities in the building
while children are being cared for. We have attendance
sheets for signing your child in and out of Sunday
School, Vacation Bible School, TGIW and other activities
so we know where we can find you quickly in an
emergency. We have a nursery pager system available to
parents for any activity. Please ask the childcare
attendant if you wish to use this service.
We have a fire safety plan in place and our teachers
know how to get the children out of the building in case
of fire. Children will be released to parents at the far
East side of the church parking lot should this
situation arise.
