Stephen
Ministry
Everyone goes through difficult periods. When this
happens, God does not intend for us to struggle alone.
Stephen Ministry is a program that equips lay persons to
provide confidential, distinctively Christian one-to-one
emotional and spiritual support to people who are facing
a crisis or going through tough times.
Who are Stephen Ministers?
Stephen Ministers are members of our congregation who have
received 50 hours of training in how to provide
distinctively Christian care. They are caring, committed
Christians who will faithfully meet with you on a regular
basis. They are good listeners and trustworthy confidants
who will keep everything you say – and even your identity –
confidential.
Who can meet with a Stephen
Minister?
Any individual experiencing a crisis or challenge such as
divorce, grief, loss of job, hospitalization, relocation,
life transition or loneliness can request a Stephen Minister
to walk with them through their difficult time.
How do I request a Stephen
Minister?
Contact our Stephen Ministry Referrals Coordinator,
Greta Hall or our
pastor, Rev.
Michael Morris.
What happens once I have requested
a Stephen Minister?
Our Stephen Ministry Referrals Coordinator will meet with
you, answer any of your questions and help determine whether
Stephen Ministry is suitable for your needs. If you both
agree that a Stephen Ministry relationship would be
beneficial, you will be matched with one of our available
Stephen Ministers. Your Stephen Minister will call you
within a few days and arrange to begin meeting with you for
approximately one hour per week. This caring relationship
will last for as long as there is a need.
Can a Stephen Minister solve my
problems?
A Stephen Minister doesn't try to solve problems; rather, he
or she listens, cares, prays, and helps you find your path
to wholeness. Only God can do the healing.
Are our discussions confidential?
Yes. Everything you say to your Stephen Minister is held in
strict confidence.
Prayer Blanket & Pillow Ministry
Small pillows and lightweight lap blankets are available
through the Stephen Ministry for those members and friends
of our congregation who are ill, recuperating, or going
through otherwise difficult times. All the pillows and
blankets are prayed over by our Stephen Ministers and the
recipients of the blankets and pillows are placed on a
prayer list. To request a pillow or blanket, please
contact the church office.
Prenatal Ministry
Together with Children’s Ministries we are pleased to offer
prayer partners to expectant parents throughout their
pregnancy. This is a special time in your life that can
bring on a multitude of feelings for both parents as they
take the journey into parenthood. You do not need to be a
church member to be a part of our prenatal ministry. We
welcome everyone. For more information please
contact the church office.
Who do I contact for more
information?
Please contact the church
office.
