Studies
At FUMC we seek to be rooted in God’s living Word,
the Bible. We are committed to facilitating
opportunities for you to learn more about your faith,
offering both long and short term Bible studies. Many of
our studies meet in conjunction with TGIW – Thank
God It’s Wednesday.
LONG TERM STUDIES
DISCIPLE is an approach to Bible Study that emphasizes
disciplined reading of Scripture. It results in
Biblically nourished people committed to live as
disciples. DISCIPLE aims at transformation, not just
information. DISCIPLE calls on persons to be changed by
God’s Word. Beginning in September 2011 we will be offering the following DISCIPLE study:
DISCIPLE 3: Remember Who You Are
This study focuses on the Old Testament prophets and the letters of Paul. The prophets and Paul are continually calling hearers and readers back to their God and to a sense of who they are as a people "set apart." Several themes weave their way through the study: the call to remember, the call to repentance, the need for renewed vision, and the place of community. Facilitators: Rev. Michael Morris
and Marianne Kozak. Book cost is $40.
Will meet on Wednesdays from 7:00-9:00 pm for 32 weeks, beginning September 14, 2011.
SHORT TERM STUDIES
We recognize that not everyone can commit to a long term
study. Throughout the year we offer a variety
of short term studies too.
Thursday Morning Bible Study
This is typically a 5-6 week study on Thursday mornings from 10:00-11:30 am, led by Rev. Michael Morris. Some past studies have included the books of John, Romans, Numbers, Galatians, Philippians, Colossians and Judges. A study on the book of Isaiah will get underway in mid-September 2012. The books of Daniel and Revelationwill be the subject of a study tentatively scheduled to begin in January 2013. Please check back as we get closer to the fall for more specific information about both classes.
Please contact Rev.
Carol Quinn with any questions about these studies.
