Hello Parents!

Welcome to the Nursery at the First United Methodist Church of Palatine. This nursery is for children from newborn to 2 years of age. Our goal is to provide a warm, caring and safe place for your child, enabling you to focus on worship or service activities.

Nursery Staff: Our nursery is staffed with at least 2 adults who have completed an application process and received training. This ensures that your child receives ample care and attention in a safe and loving environment.

Well Baby Nursery: We insist that healthy babies only enter the nursery. If your child is ill, please keep them home where they can be more comfortable. You can help us keep our nursery healthy in these ways:

- Wash your child’s hands as soon as you enter the nursery to cut down on the spread of germs.
- Please do not bring your child to the nursery when he/she can cause infection to others. Signs of illness include:

• Unusual fatigue or irritability
• Coughing, sneezing, runny nose and eyes
• Fever
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Inflamed mouth and throat
• Thick yellow or green nasal drainage

Diaper Bag Tags: Upon your first visit to the nursery, please fill out a complimentary diaper bag tag so we can identify your bag and better serve your child.

Label Items: All sippy cups or bottles must be labeled with your child’s name.

Sign-in Sheet: Please complete the sign-in sheet located on the clipboard, including any special instructions for the day. If the person dropping the child off will be different than the person picking the child up, please write it on the sign-in sheet and notify the nursery staff.

Pagers: We provide silent pagers that will vibrate if the nursery staff needs you. Typically parents are paged if the child cries continually for 8-10 minutes, needs a diaper or other supplies, or shows signs of illness. Please remember to return the pager when you pick up your child.
